VIGABATRIN (Vigabatrin).

     4-Amino hexenoic acid.

     Synonyms : Sabril, Sabril.

     The drug has elements of the structural similarities with GAMK (see Gamma-aminobutyric acid).

     It is an irreversible inhibitor GAMK- GlutationeStransferase. With the body of long-term increases in GAMK central nervous system and acts like drugs valproevoy acid (see Atsediprol). It is possible that the mechanism of action vigabatrina played the reduction of the central incident amino acids (glutamate, aspartata; See Lamotrigine).

     Assign epilepsy in adults inside 1-4 grams a day (1-2 admission), children 40-100 mg / kg.

     Contraindicated in violation kidney functions, pregnancy and old age.
